Why SGP Interlayer?

Conventional PVB is relatively flexible. This flexibility is useful for many standard laminated glass applications, but it also means that the interlayer contributes less to the structural behavior of the laminate.

SGP is substantially more rigid.

According to Kuraray's technical information for SentryGlas®, its ionoplast interlayer can provide approximately five times the tear strength and up to about 100 times the stiffness of conventional PVB.

This difference becomes increasingly relevant as glass panels become larger or the glazing system becomes less dependent on conventional framing.

The production of SGP laminated glass requires controlled preparation and lamination conditions.

Glass Preparation

Glass is cut, edge-finished and processed according to the approved drawings before entering the lamination process.

Any required drilling, notching or special shaping is normally completed before lamination.

 

Cleaning

Glass surfaces are carefully washed and dried.

Lay-Up
